How To Change, Customize & Create Android Boot Animation [Guide]

great site for how it all works
remember to use /data/local because doesn't modify the original one
then also put in charge mode
forget the remount command
just do adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local
then adb reboot
then should see it running

Good How to Article on installing ADB and the Android SDK so can root device and load the bootanimation zip file
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/what-is-adb-and-how-to-install-it-android/

started with this youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNxvXj9nff4
then used keepvid to grab the mp4

use this to split the files into what you want.  i subsituted .png for .jpg and still worked fine
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3917601/ffmpeg-split-avi-into-frames-with-known-frame-rate

download the program referenced from here
http://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/

open a command window and run with avi inside that exe directory then it dumps the images in there already indexed for you.  then start correlating video at 30fps to time in the video to scroll down and capture what you're interested in.
use command:  ffmpeg -i movieName.avi -f image2 %05d.png
this will spit out images with 5 digits starting at 00000.png

Bionic boot animation is 53 seconds.  Cut down your video to that.

I used NCH video pad trial version to edit video.  works pretty slick.  grab what you want in segments and review it and get exactly the right amount of time.  then save the file.  also can save it as frames but i didn't try that. so maybe its an all in one solution.

use this to grab the audio from the videos or convert to other formats etc.. nice little open source dealio

Gmail - Android "Demodulator" - scramjetx@gmail.com

very cool way to get a serial port on your phone without the stupid bluetooth module. Only output however... but still could be used to do remotes and things that don't need feedback. Like with an Xbee to control a plane and have longer range

Maybe you can interface to actually talk to the phone with host mode instead of just getting data outta the phone you can access serial into the phone? Works on the droid 1 but maybe can leverage it for droid x etc...

Awesome scuba diving

Yes, I dove two cenotes in the jungles north of Playa del Carmen, west
of Cancun. One was called ChackMool. It was an underground cavern
system with no external light source like you see in that weblink. It
had stalactites and mites but that was about the coolest thing there.
The other trippy thing is the fresh water sits on top of the
saltwater, once you get to sea level. You could look horizontally
through the layer and your vision would have a prism effect due to the
different densities of the water. It was cold and lifeless. Cool to
do once but I wouldn't do it again.

It was like this http://www.divingplayadelcarmen.com/ with only a few
spots that the daylight beamed through the jungle floor which had a
very dramatic effect to it.

Thanks,
